Mindful Moments for Kids
Kids Classes at Rise Mindful Healing
As parents, caregivers, and educators, we’re asking more of kids than ever before. Busy schedules, academic pressure, social dynamics, and constant stimulation can leave children feeling overwhelmed long before they have the language to explain it.
At Rise Mindful Healing, we believe emotional regulation is a skill — one that can be gently learned, practiced, and supported from an early age. That belief is what inspired our new Mindful Moments for Kids class, designed specifically for children ages 7–12.
This small-group offering introduces mindfulness in a way that feels playful, safe, and age-appropriate, while giving kids practical tools they can actually use in daily life.
Why Mindfulness Matters for Kids
Mindfulness for children isn’t about sitting still or “clearing the mind.” At its core, it’s about helping kids:
Notice what they’re feeling without judgment
Understand how emotions show up in their bodies
Learn simple ways to calm, ground, and refocus themselves
Build emotional awareness and resilience over time
Many kids experience stress physically before they can name it emotionally — stomach aches, restlessness, irritability, shutdowns, or big emotional reactions. Mindfulness gives them a framework for recognizing those signals and responding with care instead of overwhelm.
Research continues to show that mindfulness practices can support children’s emotional regulation, focus, self-awareness, and nervous system balance — all skills that carry into adolescence and adulthood.
What Kids Will Learn in Mindful Explorers for Kids
Our class is intentionally structured to meet kids where they are. Rather than lectures or rigid instruction, sessions are guided through experience and curiosity.
Gentle Breathing Techniques
Children are introduced to simple breathing exercises that help slow the body down and bring awareness back to the present moment. These practices are taught in ways kids can remember and use at home, at school, or during moments of stress.
Somatic Movement
Movement plays an important role in helping kids regulate their nervous systems. Through gentle, intentional movement, children learn how to release excess energy, reconnect with their bodies, and feel more grounded.
Guided Awareness Exercises
Kids explore noticing sensations, emotions, and thoughts in a way that feels safe and non-overwhelming. These exercises build self-awareness and help children recognize that feelings come and go — and that they have tools to support themselves when emotions feel big.
Emotional Recognition & Regulation
Rather than labeling emotions as “good” or “bad,” children learn how to recognize what they’re experiencing and respond with curiosity and care. Over time, this helps build emotional literacy and resilience.
Who This Class Is For
Mindful Moments for Kids is a great fit for:
Children who feel anxious, overwhelmed, or overstimulated
Kids who struggle with emotional regulation or transitions
Children who benefit from grounding and body-based tools
Families interested in building healthy emotional habits early
Kids who are simply curious and enjoy learning through movement and exploration
No prior mindfulness or yoga experience is required. Everything is guided, supportive, and accessible.
How Mindfulness Supports Emotional Regulation in Children
When kids learn mindfulness skills early, they gain more than momentary calm. They develop lifelong tools for navigating stress, change, and emotional challenges.
Mindfulness helps children:
Pause before reacting
Tune into internal cues
Build confidence in their ability to self-soothe
Strengthen the connection between mind and body
Over time, these skills support better communication, emotional resilience, and a greater sense of safety within themselves.
What Makes Our Approach Different
At Rise Mindful Healing, our children’s offerings are rooted in the same values that guide our adult programs: nervous system support, emotional safety, and intentional care.
Classes are kept small to ensure each child feels seen and supported. The environment is calm, welcoming, and free from pressure to perform or “get it right.” Our instructors guide with warmth and structure, creating a space where kids can explore mindfulness at their own pace.
As our community grows, we plan to expand offerings with additional age groups and sessions — always with thoughtful, developmentally appropriate programming.

Building Mindful Moments Beyond the Studio
One of the most powerful aspects of teaching mindfulness to kids is how naturally it carries into everyday life. Parents often notice children beginning to use breathing tools at home, naming their emotions more clearly, or pausing before reacting.
Mindfulness doesn’t replace big feelings — it helps kids learn how to move through them with confidence and care.
